Liberty of London for Nike to launch April 2nd

One of my favorite collaborations has to be Nike and Liberty of London. When I was abroad last spring they launched another on of their collections and I snagged myself a pair of Nike Blazers with Liberties ‘Kara’s Trees’ print. I went to Liberty on a Friday early one morning just after I made a quick stop at school. How amazing was it that my main campus was just a very short walk away from so many stores. A fashion students dream! haha On the other hand a nightmare when you are trying save money! But that was one of my favorite purchases I made while abroad. I am so glad to have had the opportunity to get myself a pair.

Once again Liberty and Nike have come together and are launching their Spring 2012 collection on April 2nd at 10AM. This time if I am looking to get a pair I need to try it online. And, early with the time difference. The Nike Inc. website shows the shoes that are in this years collection and the prints. Psychedelic prints this year. Last year seemed to have a bit more of a variety but none the less there are some really amazingly unique pairs. The first five shoes to release will be in the Nike Free 5.o, Air Max 1, and Cortez styles. My favorite pair are the Air Max. I love that this one seems to be more athletic use oriented. With a Liberty print how can you go wrong? I am not quite sure how this is going to work and if you can only purchase these in the UK but I don’t think they will be that exclusive BUT there are only so many they make, I ‘m sure. So don’t hesitate!

One of the other pairs that will be released in May are on trend with the wedge athletic shoe. They are Nike Dunks with the built in wedge heel for a more feminine look and non athletic use. Celebrities, I’ve seen them mainly on models, are wearing these wedge heel sneaker style at the moment. Not exactly my cup of tea but others think differently.

I’m crossing my fingers I can get my hands on a pair. Take a look at the photos Nike released of the shoes. Let me know what you think!

Until next time!

Fashion Fix: The Fashion Fund on Hulu

Hello Everyone!

I just wanted to share with you one of my favorite documentary fashion series that I watched on Hulu. Since I only have basic cable at my apartment I go to Hulu and network websites to watch some of my favorite shows or ones I might have missed on the channels I can watch. I think I may watch a little too much TV. Although, I am pretty sure I am not the only one!

‘The Fashion Fund’ is absolutely amazing and I think anyone interested in fashion, not necessarily interested in going into the industry but with an appreciation of fashion should watch this. I am sure already have. I came upon this one from one of the commercials that they show when watching things on Hulu. For those of you not familiar with ‘The Fashion Fund’ this is about young designers in the industry competing against each other in hopes to be winners or runner ups for aid in their businesses and mentorships by some of the most successful in the industry. There are Jewelry designers, Menswear, Womenswear designers all so very talented.

Watching each episode made me cry a little. Some people call me a crier but I just have passion and emotion that sometimes get the best of me. It doesn’t affect me but it makes me happy to see people doing things they truly love and believe in and I wish more people would do that. There would be a lot more happier people. Don’t get me wrong there are obstacles that come with that which you get to see what these amazing designers face in the way they currently run their businesses. This is not a ‘Project Runway’ type competition, this is pretty much who has the best business plan, talent and how will the money be used in their business, if won.

Incredible documentary of each of the designers journey to getting closer to the fund. Totally recommend!

Until next time!

Camping at Garner State Park

Hello Everyone! Well sorry for being MIA for a little. Today is my first day back after a pretty eventful spring break. I just want to share with you a little of what I did. It was relaxing and exhausting at the same time. ha! My break didn’t start off so hot. It was slow, cold and raining. Yuck. Then I got a call from a friend of mine to go camping at Garner State Park. I was a tad bit hesitant because it was soooo last minute and the weather was horrible but I trusted him because he knew what he was doing. So, I said yes.

That next morning  I had to wake up extra early on just a few hours of sleep because I couldn’t seem to fall asleep due to a mixture of excitement and doubtfulness. I had my reasons. I was up at 6 AM making sure I did not forget anything and that I would make it on time by 7 AM, punctual as usual. With the time change my friend on the other hand seemed to have slept through his alarm and assumed that instead of springing forward we spring backwards…Ridiculous. But he eventually woke up and we headed off on the road. I was being optimistic even though the clouds from that mornings thunderstorm were still lingering. I had checked the weather forecast for our destination which was about and hour and a half away from the city  (San Antonio) and it had sunny and in the 70’s. That made me very excited but didn’t know how trustworthy that weather forecast was going to be. When we got closer it was nothing but sunny skies and beautiful weather. Just wonderful. And all in all, the trip was very enjoyable. I would go into detail of what we did but I’ll save you your breath and you can see the photos I took.

Enjoy! Until Next time.

Jason Wu Sunday

Hello Everyone! Well on Sunday the Jason Wu collection was finally available online and in stores. Even though I was up late the previous night I made the extra effort to wake up early to get my hands on the pieces I wanted. I did my shopping at a Target in San Antonio near North Star Mall rather than doing my shopping online. I got there at 9 which I think I was an hour late from opening but my sizes were still available. Overall the collection was great. Although I did notice some little things. The fabric was obviously very light weight and sheer when it should not be. The blush dress with black collar and sleeve trim with stripes was the dress the only dress I bought in size XS but I also had to by a sip because you could see through it. That dress also was extra long compared to how it was shown on the model and dress form in the Target television commercial. I know I am short but I do not think it was just me that made the dress seem so long. I still loved though obviously because I still bought it! All the sizes were slightly bigger than what it seemed it should have been. I bought the heather grey tee with lace print in an XS and it still fit big and that is because I am not a twig. The length of the torso was adequate size for an average woman. I bought the black pleated skirt which I am debating wether to sell, return or keep because the length of it seems to long for my height. I am 5’1″ and too long of skirts can make me look even shorter but I am still not sure. It is a size 6 if anyone may be interested. The last piece I bought was the collared cap sleeve pleated blouse in red in a size Medium. I love the addition of red into my wardrobe everyone needs to have a hint of red, giving you a break form the loads of black you may have in your closet like I do. That could be paired with the pleated skirt and heels, a pair of nice black shorts and tights with flats, leather skirt with biker boots, or skinny jeans and ballet flats. Well, at least that is how I would wear it. Overall the quality of the clothing was great and well priced.

Well until next time!

So ready for February 5th, Jason Wu for Target!

Hello Everyone! Well the day is almost here for all my fellow PrimaFashionistas anxiously awaiting the launch of Jason Wu at all targets and target.com this Sunday, February 5th! I am so excited, you have no idea. Being a college student, funds are slim but I have held back on my retail shopping just so I can see what I end up loving! I would totally buy online BUT I would spend a lot less knowing exactly how the garments actually look, feel and fit in person. Quality is something very important to me and should be to anyone. Yes, I know you are saying “Well it is Target, what do you expect?” But Missoni for target had to have been one of my favorite and only collections to have met my expectations compared to other designers that have launched a collection with them in the passed. I have total confidence for this Jason Wu collection though. These are some of the looks posted on the Targetstyle Facebook page that have intrigued me. He said the inspiration was Parisian women during a certain era. Love. It seems to me very Blair Waldorf which is another reason why I think I love this collection so much. Well I will definitely know how that goes and what I actually think about the garments on Sunday!

Until next time!

MUSIC: Gotye

So one of my favorite type of genres of music is alternative so I have been steaming a radio station from Austin, Texas called 101X Independent. Local. Alternative. (www.101x.com) The music the station play are all my favorites plus many more new artists. I heard this song called ‘Somebody that I used to know’ by an Australian called Gotye. There is something about the sound of this song that I love. He was on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night which I didn’t actually watch because I was in bed but I heard my roommates watching it. The sound of this guys voice at times sounds like Sting or someone like that I can not pin point who exactly. Anyways, I love it. Take a listen and I’ve posted the Official Video and last nights live performance.

Until next time!

My Favorite Meal of the Day

Hello Everyone! Hope you are all having a wonderful morning. Mine is. I always love when I can wake up early and make my breakfast. This is really the most important meal of the day and my favorite I must say. My favorite plate consists of two eggs, 3 small pancakes with light aunt jemihma syrup, and a nice side of blackberries and strawberries. I have been trying to eat as good or at least as fresh as possible to help my minor skin problem that has been getting to me. This past semester when I was full of stress I was eating out a lot and nothing was good for me. It had an affect on my skin which I never had a problem about until then. That saying ‘you are what you eat’ is slightly true. Well, it is completely true. So I thought I would go into the new year and do something about it rather than complain how this has never happened to me. It has ad now I’m dealing with it:) It is all up to me. Graduation is my motivation, I want to look as fabulous as possible on that day and walking down that stage! Haha I am going to share with you any tasty healthy meals I eat or have eaten at places in case you would like to try them.

Until next time!

Sunday Outing- Japanese Tea Garden

Hello Everyone! Yesterday I was really in the mood to take photographs, so my roommate suggested that I go to the Japanese Tea Garden. I had never been, I had no idea what to expect. These are some of the photos I took. Not many I must say, there were way too many people in this little area I could not take too many without having random people in them. I really enjoy taking photos of nature because it is very relaxing for me.

Until next time!

Fashion Picks from Golden Globe Awards

Hello Everyone! First of all I would just like to say HAPPY MLK DAY!! This is a wonderful holiday dedicated to service, I always love helping others so this is not the only day I dedicate to that. Take some time today to reflect on your life and think about how good you actually have it- even if you don’t think so- compared to others in the past.

Sooo yesterday award season started, the Golden Globe Awards was on NBC last night. This was the first time in a long time that I actually watched it. I usually end up just reading about it or hearing about the fashion from the night but this time I wanted to see it myself and see what crazy things happen during the night. Ricky Gervais was funny but not as intense as I presume he was last year. Anyways, on the the fashion.

I loved some of the dresses that were worn by some of the nominees and winners. There were many celebs that I did not see until this morning on websites. One group in particular the Glee clan. There were a lot of strapless and mermaid dresses. There were some I loved and some I wasn’t that crazy about as much as some people were. Not very many bright colors. My favorites of the night were Sofia Vergara in a navy Vera wANG strapless mermaid silhouette gown which looked beautiful with her skin tone and amazing curvy body and Michelle Williams in a navy, fitted, long sleeve embellished custom Jason Wu (I am excited to see what he had designed for his target collection which launches in February!!) , and Rooney Mara in a black gown that suited her pale skin tone and simple tied back black hair, Selma Hayek looked sexy with her beaded gold and back fitted strapless dress and Claire Danes in her black and white fitted with slight detail on the sleeves and waistline. Those five dresses had to be some of my personal favorites from head to toe for the night. They all looked stunning wore their dresses perfectly. Some of my other favorites were Helen Mirren and Jane Fonda who never fail to look amazing at any age!

Well hope your Monday continues to be as wonderful and maybe relaxing as mine has been!

Until next time!
