Menswear has had minute changes year after year. Raf Simons attempted to change the shape of menswear in his fall 2012 collection. The oversized shapes, interesting styled mutli-layered looks, formal yet causal tailored shorts that can be easily worn with sneakers, and the colorful fabric choices were pretty superb. A stand out piece, for me, was the chesterfield coat in the cool vibrant blue which is a great staple for fall. Simons really took inspiration from what the younger generation is wearing today. Fashion is about reinvention and those above the knee shorts throughout  the collection reflected that, perfect for west coast weather. Simons did a great job in directing the reshape of menswear.

Menswear Fall 2012: Givenchy

Riccardo Tisci’s fall collection continued his reinvention of the Scottish kilt and introduced his obsession of the American flag. Tisci kept his man looking modern, masculine and strong. Tailored suits, collared shirts, masculine kilts, sweaters, tailored pants was polished but very goth keeping the color scheme predominantly in black with pops of color. His star embellishment detail throughout the collection was interesting; especially on the collared shirts with the continuation of this detail on the jackets symmetrically placed over. Individuality and confidence is also something evident in the Givenchy man. There was nothing feminine about this collection.  Riccardo Tisci has done a great job in continuing with his signature style.
